The 4th of July

For those of you who are aware of the celebrations following the 4th of July here in America, then you will know that People tend to go all out. Huge firework displays (the one we saw went on for what seemed like days), eye popping feasts and parties to rival some weddings, are mandatory. Driving through our neighbourhood I probably counted over Fifty American flags, hung with pride in the fronts of peoples lawns. It almost seems a competition, to see who can celebrate July the 4th with the most patriotism. Being here at this time has made it abundantly clear just what a proud nation the Americans are. To be honest, I sort of wish Britain had a July the 4th too. And I have to confess, I have been infected with the July 4th bug. I love it.

To fit in with the rest of the population and because I could, I decided to join in with the patriotic fun and dress in red white and blue. I actually really like this outfit too, and might re-create it on any 'god save the Queen' days at home.
